Marine - coal self-heating and combustion hazard management
Crawford Marine team was appointed by the vessel owner’s P&I insurers to investigate the cause of the self-heating of steam coal cargo of Samarinda, Indonesian origin. The team was also asked to render possible assistance to the master and the crew in taking control of the prevailing situation, and to mitigate the losses and alleviate the potential risks, whilst the 180,182MT Dead Weight Bulk Carrier vessel was discharging her cargo in Hong Kong.
