Overview
The 5-Day Flood Dwelling Policy class* is designed for experienced adjusters with at least four years of property adjusting experience who want to expand their expertise into flood claims. As this course is for professional development and not directly related to daily job duties, participation is voluntary and takes place outside of regular work hours.
This training equips seasoned adjusters with the knowledge and skills needed to handle claims for Crawford & Company clients. The course includes interactive exercises with real-time feedback, offering an engaging and educational experience. Participants will learn how to:
- Read and interpret flood insurance policies
- Enhance customer experience during the claims process
- Scope and assess flood damage effectively
- Document claim files accurately
- Write professional estimates using Xactimate best practices for flood losses
To maintain a personalized and effective learning environment, each session is limited to a maximum of 8 students. As spots are limited, we encourage you to register early to secure your place in the class.
Course Requirements for In Person Classroom
Students of this course should meet the following criteria before attending the 5 Day Flood Dwelling Policy Class
- 4 years of property experience to qualify for your FCN or currently holds an FCN certification
- Adjusters should have attended or are currently registered for the annual NFIP certification to apply or renew their FCN for the upcoming year.
- Personal Laptop (Xactimate Subscription not required) No Mac Books or Chrome Books
- External mouse
- A tape measurer and/or Disto for the onsite inspection
- Basic computer skills and understanding of Microsoft Windows
- Knowledge of the adjuster profession and basic understanding of damage identification/building components
What to Expect:
This course will be instructed by Crawford's exceptional training team. This is an on-site 5 Day class starting on Monday and ending on a Friday. The class begins promptly at 8:00 am (CST) and will end at 5:00 pm (CST). There will be two fifteen-minute breaks and a one-hour lunch. Students will have on onsite inspection and complete a scenario-based estimate.
Course Objectives
Students that attend this course will be taught:
- How to read and interpret the FEMA Flood Dwelling Policy
- How to read and interpret the FEMA Claims Manual
- Proper file documentation
- How to determine ratings of homes: Slab on Grade, Crawlspace, Elevated Homes, & Basements
- How to scope the interior and exterior of a dwelling
- Scenario Based Estimating for kitchens, bathrooms, garages, elevated structures, and a basement with various water heights
- Sketching and estimating an entire dwelling
- How to set expectations with the insureds
- Carrier Specific processes
