Hurricane Hilary has been downgraded to a subtropical cyclone as of early this morning, bringing significant rainfall into California, causing flooding and multiple rock and mud slides.
Currently there are tens of thousands of people in Southern California without power.

Hurricane Hilary has is now rated a Category 4 hurricane with 145 mph maximum winds and is expected to approach a near Category 5 strength before it begins to weaken over the weekend.
The Hurricane is expected to make landfall very late Sunday night and Monday morning in southern California somewhere between Los Angeles and San Diego as a tropical storm with perhaps 45 to 60 mph winds. This would make this the first tropical storm to make landfall in Southern California since 1939. A current Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for California and covers the southern part of the state, including San Diego and Catalina Island.
