Angus Osborne-White was nominated for Young Leader Of The Year at the 2022 British Ex-Forces in Business Awards.
Now a Crawford Loss Adjuster and Forensic Accountant, Angus Osborne-White left the Army just over nine years ago and freely admits that, at the time, he had no clear direction of what to do on “civvy street”. Today, he feels that he has found his home within Crawford and openly recognises the support he has found in his team as well as the ongoing support and development offered by the wider business.
Angus adds:
“It may sound like a cliché, but I really wouldn’t be on the nominee list if it weren’t for the support of Crawford taking a chance on an accountant with a niche background”.
Crawford prides itself on its approach to talent retention, exploring every opportunity to support colleagues at every juncture of their careers. Angus is a clear example that this philosophy pays off not only for Crawford but – more importantly – for its people.
We also look to support military veterans and Contractor Connection in the UK, and set up the Contractor Connection Foundation to address the labour shortage and the male-dominated demographic of the construction sector. Through the work of the Foundation, we have been able to create highly valuable partnerships with a number of influential bodies. These include the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and Women into Construction (WIC) which champions women construction workers and Building Heroes, which retrains military veterans as tradespeople.
Contractor Connection will be sending one of their regional managers with some panel contractors to support the Civil Engineering Day hosted by Building Heroes at Fareham College on 12 August.
In their fifth year, the British Ex-Forces Awards are the world’s largest celebration of military veterans in second careers. They provide a much-needed platform for uncovering and showcasing the business achievements of ex-military men and women, presenting them as role models to other service leavers. They also recognise the employers that, like Crawford, support current and former members of the British Armed Forces.
This year’s shortlist has been whittled down from a record-breaking 700 applications, so the Finalist nomination alone is an outstanding achievement for Angus.
We can’t wait to hear what else he achieves at the award ceremony in London on 8 September 2022.
