Crawford is excited to announce that three members of our senior leadership team have been named in the Insurance Business Global 100 for 2022. Those recognized are Lisa Bartlett, president, UK & Ireland; Veronica Grigg, president, Asia; and Rohit Verma, chief executive officer.
Now in its third year, the list seeks to honor “outstanding industry professionals who are making a positive difference and helping drive change across the sector”. Crawford has featured more strongly each year in the Global 100, having had one executive in the global industry publication’s inaugural list in 2020 and two in 2021.
Rohit, who made the list for a second successive year, said: “We are honored that three members of our senior team have made this prestigious list of influential industry leaders. I’m delighted that Insurance Business has highlighted the strong and dynamic leadership that both Lisa and Veronica have provided. Their recognition is richly deserved, and I am humbled to be included on the list once again.”
“This success is testament to the outstanding performance of our entire team, which continues to excel in difficult times. Our people have risen impressively to the challenges of the pandemic, which has forced changes to the way we operate. And in another extraordinarily busy year for devastating natural catastrophes, we are proud of the way our people fulfilled our purpose to restore and enhance lives, businesses and communities.”
“Despite these challenges, we lead change in the industry through innovation to better serve our customers and the industry at large. We expect that our digital transformation will accelerate over the next 12 months, as we build out a world-leading claims platform that will use best-in-class technology to simplify processes and enhance the efficiency and value of our services.”
As CEO and a member of Crawford’s board of directors, Rohit leads our team of 9,000 full-time employees and 50,000 seasonal employees, serving clients in more than 70 countries. Rohit has more than 20 years of international strategic experience and is passionate about driving digital and operational transformation. Under his leadership, the company has been focused on developing a growth mindset and cascading empowerment within our culture to significantly increase decision-making efficiency and speed, pushing empowerment to the teams working closest with our customers and enabling them to serve our clients with top quality, promptly.
Lisa was appointed president, UK & Ireland, in late 2019. Her first year in the role was a veritable baptism of fire as first, the UK was hit by named storms Ciara, Dennis and Jorge, followed by the onset of COVID-19 and national lockdowns.
Having overseen the rapid transition to a 100% remote working model for the 1,400 employees in the UK, Lisa seized on the positive aspects of the forced changes. As she told Insurance Business in an interview in June last year: “It was a great time for us to show our employees that they were cared for and that their welfare truly comes first. And I think that was the starter for every [initiative] that has come after that.”
Bartlett, who was also recognized by Business Insurance in December 2020 as “A Woman to Watch”, by Insurance Business UK as one of its Elite Women for 2021 and won Insurance Woman of the Year at the 2020 Women in Insurance Awards is focused on strengthening Crawford’s culture with a “people-first” focus as she believes this is the surest path to exceptional customer service and financial success.
Veronica has been with Crawford for nearly two years. As president, Asia, she represents Crawford in a diverse region comprising ten countries and oversees a team of more than 500 employees. Dealing with a wide variety of countries and cultures is nothing new to her after an insurance career in which she has worked in international markets including London, Sydney, Singapore and New York.
Last year, she was recognized by Insurance Business Asia as one of their Elite Women for 2021. She is a believer in the power of collaboration, prides herself on building strong, agile teams and has a track record of reliability.
When it comes to dealing with clients in times of need, Veronica believes that responsiveness and understanding provide a competitive edge. “Given the nature of the work that we do, and the often very trying circumstances in which we work with people, being empathetic is critical to how we operate. That personal touch is what helps to build relationships for the long term.”
As a team builder, she places a strong emphasis on career development and the constant updating of skills to enable the company to benefit as fully as possible from new technologies.
As a claims management company, Crawford has a wealth of insightful insurance data and Veronica is mindful of its value, “before, during and after any claims situation”. Crawford uses data to help brokers and carriers with pricing of risk, to help them negotiate better insurance covers at renewal, identify common causes of claims and help to take action to mitigate those risks.
“As Crawford moves forward, the modernization of our business will continue to gain momentum,”
says Rohit, “as we accelerate our digital transformation and build out a world-leading claims platform. Yet equally we never lose sight of the fact that ours is a people business, and to maintain that focus we will always strive to ensure that our teams represent the best people in this industry.”
