We know that our profession is a male-dominated one, but that imbalance is changing. Diversity and inclusion (D&I) is now a strategic imperative for companies in our industry. At Crawford, for example, we are proud to have a number of women leaders at the helm of our businesses, who alongside many rising stars are helping to make the insurance industry a more representative sector.
Our women leaders also take a frontline role in the push to promote greater diversity and inclusivity. We have a number of women across our organization championing and leading the charge by inspiring and motivating others through their actions and their support of various initiatives, both at Crawford and on the industry stage so it was no surprise to have an incredible 15 nominees at this year’s Women in Insurance Awards.

Earlier this year, Crawford demonstrated its commitment to addressing this industry imbalance with the establishment of an Office of Inclusion and Diversity to design and implement programs that promote an inclusive culture led by Nidhi Verma, vice president of learning and talent development.
At the same time, Caroline Poppleton was appointed as D&I leader for the Crawford UK operation. Her focuses are on recruitment, career planning, training and leadership and sit alongside her present position as head of business development.
Crawford supports several organizations that promote and advance efforts to create a more representative workforce, including the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjuster’s group, Women in CILA. Crawford also recently signed the UK Inclusive Behaviours Pledge to demonstrate its commitment to embracing diversity, inclusion, creativity and innovation.
Our goal is to value the different backgrounds and perspectives of employees and create safe spaces that allow employees to bring their authentic selves to work and inspire them to reach their full potential.
