A Crawford adjuster since September 2019, Mariela Torres-Santos began her time with us as a Casualty Adjuster for the Puerto Rico branch. Over the past three years, and with a prior 16 years of experience in the industry, she has gained valuable experience as a casualty adjuster and recently decided to broaden her expertise by striving towards a property certification in PR.
Mariela chose this career for several reasons. She loves that it’s a dynamic profession and challenges her daily. She also believes that being an adjuster is about making a difference in the life of someone who has suffered a significant loss. This fact alone is the most fulfilling part of adjusting to Mariela. Perhaps this is what led her to pursue the property license as well.
This achievement would make Mariela a multi-line adjuster, elevating her skills in the industry and increasing her demand. We’re pleased to share that Mariela did indeed pass her test for certification and is now an official Property (and Casualty) adjuster in Puerto Rico.
Qualifying for this license is no small feat, and Mariela had to balance her work schedule with her studies for around six months. The complexity of the test material has proven challenging for even a seasoned adjuster and Mariela proved her dedication and persistence when she passed the exam on June 14, 2023.
Mariela states she is excited about working on property claims daily and making her claim assignments more interactive. She’s also interested in the opportunity to participate in CAT deployments, something that she has not been able to do before without her license.
Mariela is continuing to improve her trade by currently participating in the 5-day Adjuster Basics Course held in Allen, TX. This course will train her on Xactimate Levels 1 and 2, a skill desperately needed to succeed as a property adjuster.
Throughout her training, Mariela has commented on how impressed she is with Crawford’s training style and the Texas branch as a whole. She says,
“Crawford is the best employer I have worked for and I feel proud to be a part of this company.”
We echo her remarks by saying how proud we are to have her on our roster – congratulations, Mariela!
