As the Pahang region of Malaysia braces for flood season towards the end of the year, we have bolstered resources appointing Mohammad Aminuddin Bin Alias as head of Pahang branch.
Crawford Malaysia Managing Director Nathan Hannah said as flood season approaches, his team is prepared, ready and able to support the insurance industry if the worst eventuates.
“This region has traditionally suffered considerable losses over the Monsoon period, and we know that the severity and scale of natural weather events around the world has been on an increasing trajectory for several years now, so it’s critical we are prepared and well placed to support our clients,” Hannah said.
With 13 years of experience, a veteran of many CAT events and coupled with a sharp focus on flood management, Amin leads Crawford’s Pahang branch, strengthening its service and capabilities, after joining the global claims management giant in August. He has broad loss adjusting expertise across property, liability, engineering, fidelity guarantee, business interruption, marine and natural catastrophes.
Hannah noted that Amin’s significant experience managing claims in the aftermath of natural catastrophes, ideally positioned him to guide the branch through the challenges that potentially lay ahead.
“When you look at Malaysia in an overall sense, Pahang is particularly vulnerable to severe weather events, so it’s great that we can fill this role with someone of Amin’s calibre and knowledge of the local market; I’m very confident in timely and effective claims management under his leadership.”
Having been in the role for six weeks, Amin said his focus is on enhancing the team’s readiness to respond to flood threats:
“Ensuring our clients receive the swift, professional support they need when disasters strike is my number one priority. Monsoon season means widespread flooding and is a situation we must prepare for. But I’m confident we are ready to deploy expert people-resources the moment our clients need us.”
In addition to Amin’s appointment, Crawford Malaysia has also brought in Nazirul Jabri Bin Roslee as senior adjuster. Nazirul brings 11 years’ loss adjusting experience, with a special focus on general claims and natural catastrophes. His most recent assignments included managing significant claims arising from the severe flooding that impacted Malaysia’s east coast. Nazirul’s hands-on experience and deep understanding of flood-related claims will further enhance the branch’s ability to deliver high-quality loss adjusting services.
“We are constantly evaluating how we can strengthen our presence right across Malaysia by securing this kind of talent and focusing on executing industry-leading service during both regular operations and times of catastrophe; these recent appointments are the latest examples of that,” Hannah concluded.
