“Almost everything in the insurance industry begins and ends with relationships,”
says Morgan Davidson, Crawford & Company’s recently appointed Client Liaison Manager for Lloyd’s and the London Market. “You have to deliver when it matters.”
Morgan joined Crawford in July 2021 from TPA claims manager Gallagher Bassett, where she spent six years, graduating from her first role in the finance department to a client associate role in which she worked directly with corporate and MGA clients.
That experience stood her in good stead to move into her new role at Crawford, where she is responsible for managing, protecting and growing Crawford’s relationships with Lloyd’s syndicates, cover holders and brokers across all products and territories.
“Lloyd’s is very much a face-to-face marketplace, and my role involves a lot of direct contact with clients. It’s all about building strong trusting relationships,” explains Morgan.
In addition to interacting with clients and a variety of Crawford teams daily, the client liaison role of today also comprises everything from planning, project management and problem-solving to analysing management information and running data visualisations, she explains. “No day or week is the same.”
Morgan expects her role, like many at Crawford, to become increasingly data-driven in the coming years given the significant increase in the availability of data and the increasing volume of management information being requested and used by clients.
“Over the next five years, I think we will see an increase in technology-based platforms and advanced data-driven innovations. Insurance is an evolving and ever-changing market, which makes it challenging but also exciting to work in,”
Morgan says.
“I wanted the next step of my career to let me challenge myself and be able to have the opportunity to learn and expand my knowledge about this wonderful market we work in – and my current role provides that,” she adds.
According to Morgan, conversations with Richard Day (Vice President of Global Client Development) and William Jones (Senior Client Manager – Lloyd’s and London Market) about the company, the role and the team during the recruitment process made her confident Crawford would be a positive environment in which to develop her career.
“Our values and worth ethic were very similar, which is really important to me,” Morgan says.
Unsurprisingly for a person whose role is all about relationships, Morgan is a people person who spends most of her free time socialising. “I have quite a busy social life. I love spending time with my family and friends whether it is a brunch, coffee, shopping, or going for walks.”
However, some of those engagements may have to wait as Morgan has just bought her first home and it’s a renovation project. “I am sure it will keep me busy,” she admits.
