After graduating from California State University of Sacramento, Marie began her career at Hartford as a short-term disability adjuster. Then, she made a move to Travelers Insurance, where she started working as a workers compensation adjuster. In 2017, she joined Broadspire.
Independence is the theme when asked what she enjoys most about working at Broadspire. “I love working with the people on the account that I have responsibility for,” shares Marie. “Having the kind of empowerment to use what I’ve learned as a workers compensation adjuster throughout the years to drive claims to resolution and handle the claims the way I see fit is very satisfying. I have the support of my supervisor, so I’m not micromanaged. It’s a huge plus because they trust me enough to handle my claims without having to get approval for everything. I love that freedom. It’s that freedom that makes me proud to be part of the Broadspire team.”
The thing that makes Marie feel most connected to her work is being able to make a difference in the lives of those who are injured and getting them back to work. “I understand the stress of worrying about where money will come from when people are on disability,” says Marie. “In my role working with the employer, I can also be there for the injured worker to help them feel more at ease. I like being able to make a difference in someone’s life.”
Marie is confident in her future. She had this to share in a recent interview.
“I know that I have the opportunity to one day become a supervisor. And, I know that I can be flexible with my career,” she says. “Because of the experience that I continue to gain, I can either move up within workers compensation or branch out to different lines of business. I love that I’m building a skill set that can take me wherever I want to go.”
