Based out of Seattle, Washington, Jason Runyon, general property adjuster, is a recent addition to our field workforce, with less than a year with Crawford. We recently sat down with Jason to discuss why he joined Crawford and what he is looking to accomplish.
Why did you choose to join Crawford?
“Crawford is known across the industry as the premier independent adjusting shop. I couldn’t miss the opportunity to join and advance my career.”
What is a typical work week like for you?
“Field liaison duties with 1st party insured’s, 3rd party claimants, public entities, commercial and high net-worth homeowners, ranging from the routine water/fire loss to complex construction
defect and litigated losses.”
Can you share a memorable moment during your career with Crawford?
“One of my more memorable projects involved a simple commercial water loss at one building. The loss location, while one physical building, was partitioned into two separate locations (internally) and 6 commercial spaces leased to 4 different businesses, 2 of which were owned by the primary insured and leased back to themselves under a different business entity. There were 3 insurers involved (building and each affected Tenant BPP insurer), and 4 claims representatives, myself being the 5th and the only one familiar with managing a multiple insurer claim file. A claim can be difficult on a normal day, even when you are not dealing with three insurers, and the insured needed assistance to navigate the process. None of our competitors stepped up, so I tracked all expenses, across all insurers, and verified all payments were correct not just for our client, but the other two as well.”
Where do you see adjusting moving towards over the next five years?
“Daily homeowners’ claims handling has experienced a shift toward in‐house adjusting allowing the larger insurers to manage smaller files remotely. Insurers are relying on the insured and phone measuring apps to reduce expenses. With COVID‐19, insurers have been pushed to adapt by utilizing available and emerging tech products sooner than they, or we, may have planned. In this way, Crawford is better positioned than most as it has proven its innovative solutions for remote claims management”
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love my dogs, off‐roading 4‐wheels and two, motorcycles, classic cars and restorations, camping, fishing, and cooking both indoors and out. Lump coal is the only way to go. I’ve been a percussionist for 28 years so of course music too. And I’m a self‐proclaimed audio enthusiast.”
“Jason is the ultimate professional and has received 5 compliments this year alone. Most recently a client said, "I have struggled for years to find a good adjuster in the Washington area and I have finally found one! I have passed this info onto other team members. Your work is perfect and that is hard to find!"
