Based out of St. Louis, Missouri, Cathleen Schaeffler has been with Crawford for nearly 27 years and is an executive assistant for Crawford Claims Solutions. Starting as a part-time clerk in June of 1993, Cathleen was encouraged to join Crawford full-time in 1995. During her time at Crawford, Cathleen has played a pivotal role in supporting Crawford adjusters and management and has even found herself rolling up her sleeves to help out those in need. We recently sat down with Cathleen to talk about her time with Crawford.
Why did you choose to join Crawford?
“When I first started with the company 25+ years ago, it was just a job to help pay the mortgage. Throughout the years, I’ve been able to work in many roles and on a variety of projects that have been both challenging and enjoyable. It’s been a pleasure working with many of the same people, who have become family, and this “job” has become more of a career.”
What is a typical work week like for you?
“Coffee, coffee, coffee, troubleshoot, troubleshoot, troubleshoot, coffee, coffee, coffee and repeat…
But actually, between coffees, there is no typical work week for me. I encounter many things that ‘stretch’ me and my skills.”
Can you share a memorable moment during your career with Crawford?
“I managed the local Consumer Plumbing Recovery Center and found myself crawling under mobile homes. It gave me a new respect for our adjusters! I may not be climbing on roofs every day (or under mobile homes), but I am proud of my role in supporting those on the front lines.”
Where do you see adjusting moving towards over the next five years?
“I think the WeGoLook and YouGoLook platforms are going to be more prevalent. The continued development of partnerships like HOVER for 3D property inspections and our PLNAR tools will be a tremendous asset to our adjusters in the field.”
What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
“I enjoy visiting our son in Chicago, attending Bible studies and Saturday morning coffee dates with my husband at a local coffee shop.”
“Cathleen is always willing and able to help with whatever is asked of her in our overall support to RESTORE lives, businesses and communities.”
