Alessia joined the Düsseldorf office of Crawford & Company (Deutschland) GmbH in November 2024 as HR business partner.
In this role, Alessia is responsible for building a holistic, modern HR department. Her current focus is on recruiting and employer branding, strengthening the Crawford employer brand both internally and externally, and growing the LinkedIn page in Germany. In addition, Alessia is the “go-to” contact for Crawford’s managers on a wide range of HR topics.
Alessia’s position with Crawford follows a series of HR-related roles with univativ GmbH & Co, Salzgitter Mannesmann Handel GmbH and ALDI Nord Deutschland Stiftung & Co KG. “I studied psychology at university” explains Alessia, “and the more I studied it, the more I realised that this allowed me to better understand how people think and what motivates them. That understanding is what led me to develop my own career in the field of human resources.”
These previous positions have all allowed Alessia to develop skills and expertise in not only identifying and recruiting new talent, but also in training and development, helping people to increase their performance in their roles and to encourage them to take their careers to the next level.
Alessia explains “My previous posts were in very large organisations. I chose Crawford because I wanted to work in a more diverse way, and I also find it more enjoyable to work in a smaller operation of Crawford than in a large corporation. I like taking responsibility for developing colleagues and for driving issues forward and I enjoy being a key point of contact for our leaders and executives. I also really like the culture here and received a very warm welcome when I joined. The communication here is very appreciative, and I feel that it’s an environment where I can openly share my thoughts and ideas.”
With the entire insurance industry suffering from a loss of senior talent as many experienced executives take retirement, Alessia is ready to realise one of her main ambitions for Crawford – to attract talent from Generation Z.
“I see it as my duty to expand and modernise Crawford’s recruitment process in Germany” says Alessia. “My focus will be to make Crawford in Germany more relevant and attractive to a newer generation. Many young people are now looking for a career with some element of social purpose. Crawford’s own purpose of restoring lives, businesses and communities when the worst has happened fits that need perfectly. Not only that, but the breadth of services across the business means that Crawford can also offer plenty of scope for variety and internal progression. I look forward to finding ways of getting that message to Gen Z.”
