Sophie Mitchell joined Crawford as a financial claims accountant last year, since when she has been studying for qualifications with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Otherwise known as the ICAEW, it’s a professional membership organisation that promotes, develops and supports chartered accountants and students around the world.
Sophie’s commitment to her studies has paid off – she’s just been awarded the following:
- Joint first place at the ICAEW CFAB / ACA Certificate Level Business, Technology and Finance, July - September 2022
- Joint first place at the ICAEW CFAB / ACA Certificate Level Principles of Taxation, October - December 2022
- Joint fourth place at the ICAEW CFAB / ACA Certificate Level Annual Order of Merit 2022
To set this achievement into perspective, ICAEW has almost 200,000 members globally, spread across no fewer than 147 countries, with only just over a hundred students receiving awards in 2022.
Mid way through her studies, Sophie loves working in the insurance industry and relishes the challenge of studying hard to further her professional development.
“I’m super happy with these results” says Sophie – and quite rightly.
“I get all the support I need and more from my managers as well as my fellow ICAEW students here at Crawford. And my father’s proud too – he was in retirement but has been persuaded to return to work and is now alongside me in the Crawford Forensic Accounting Services team.”
Sarah Baker, head of Crawford Forensic Accounting Services, says “Sophie gave up a career with one of the UK’s leading management consultancies to join Crawford’s graduate trainee program with the Institute of Chartered Accountants. She very quickly established herself as a key member of the team, working alongside her colleagues on a variety of projects ranging from small low-value claims to significant multi million pound investigations. At the same time, Sophie has pursued the exams with success, securing not only passes in her chosen subjects but gaining much-deserved recognition with these awards.”
As part of a father/daughter team, Sophie is totally committed to a career at Crawford and sees herself with us in the insurance business for many years to come.
Lisa Bartlett, president, UK & Ireland, adds “I am passionate about growing the leaders of the future from within the business. That’s why I work hard to make Crawford a safe, inclusive environment where everyone has every opportunity to grow, develop and progress with us. It’s immensely rewarding for me to see this coming to life – well done, Sophie!”
